US President Barack Obama on Saturday embarked on his highly anticipated three-day landmark trip to India during which the two countries will strive to make progress on climate change, defence and economic cooperation.President Barack Obama will shorten his trip to India and divert to Saudi Arabia, paying respects after the death of King Abdullah and meeting with the oil-rich nation’s new monarch, the White House said on Saturday.Earlier, the White House has issued a statement saying that US President Barack Obama regrets the cancellation of his visit to the Taj Mahal during his three-day visit to India. The US president was scheduled to visit the Taj on January 27 on the final day of his visit but will now instead fly out earlier to Saudi Arabia to meet the new king following the demise of King Abdullah.
