The BMC is concerned about a number of people who have returned from Ebole-hit countries being untraceable. However, a 35-year-old Nigerian woman suffering from advanced metastatic cancer travelling from Nigeria to India via Abu Dhabi has died, the Health Authority – Abu Dhabi announced on Sunday. The Ebola outbreak, which is restricted to four West African nations (Sierra Leone, Guinea, Liberia and Nigeria), has claimed over 1,000 lives. Although there are no direct flights from these nations to Mumbai, three airlines (Emirates, South African and Ethiopian Airlines) operate transit flights through these nations. The incubation period for the Ebola virus is two to 21 days. There is no vaccine or cure for one of the deadliest diseases known to humans that spreads through bodily fluids.
