PN (Maoist) and CPN-M have urged the Judicial Council to withdraw its recommendations for appointing permanent justices. A meeting of the Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee(PHSC) was held yesterday over the issue related to Judicial Council (JC)'s controversial recommendation for eight Supreme Court judges and to settle the differences of opinion regarding the appointment of Supreme Court Justices was inconclusive was inconclusive.
A meeting of the Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee(PHSC) held today over the issue related to Judicial Council (JC)'s controversial recommendation for eight Supreme Court judges and to settle the differences of opinion regarding the appointment of Supreme Court Justices was inconclusive was inconclusive. During the meeting, the members of the Committee including those from the CPN (UML), the Unified CPN (Maoist), and some other political parties stated that the Council letter has come with an intention to challenge the committee. The meeting was called to hold discussions with the Judicial Council members after the after the Supreme Court issued a stay order to the PHSC's earlier decision to summon the JC members for a hearing.
