Japanese officials honor Nepali for saving woman

Japanese authorities have honored a Nepali youth for saving a Japanese woman from being run over by trains at railway tracks, today’s The Himalayan Times reports.

Japan Railway East has honored Anuj Raza Karki, 20, for his courageous effort to save a drunken woman who had fallen on the tracks from a platform just before the train arrived on May 11, according to the Japanese media.


“A woman, in an inebriated state, fell on the tracks at around 11:20 pm on May 11, at JR Yotsuya Station in Tokyo and a young man rescued her seconds before the train arrived,” according to the reports. Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department Kojimachi station is considering honoring Karki with an award.
