Vivah Panchami, which marks the wedding between the Hindu God Ram and Goddess Sita is being observed at Janakpur. Hindus from Nepal and India celebrate this festival by enacting the wedding between Lord Ram and Goddess Sita with a wedding procession that begins in Ayodhya of India, which is Ram's birth place which arrives at Janakpur, Sita's birth place. The procession ends at Ayodhya when with the conclusion of the enactment of the mythical wedding between Lord Ram and Goddess Sita.
This festival recently received a lot of regional traction as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had expressed his desire to participate in the enactment of the wedding procession but had to cancel it due to time constraints.
