Floods and landslides in Nepal have killed more then 150 people and scores more are missing so far. 150 dead as floods wash away homes in Nepal, Nepal has been worst hit, with 105 people confirmed dead after torrential rain triggered landslides and flooding, devastating entire villages in what the country's prime minister termed a "national tragedy". Last year, more than 6,000 people were killed as floods and landslides swept through Uttarakhand during the monsoon season. Heavy deforestation over the last few decades has made the area more vulnerable to landslides. People in the worst-affected villages were being evacuated to relief camps set up in government and school buildings. In the aftermath of natural calamities such as flood and landslides that have ravaged a number of settlements in the district over the past month while displacing thousands of people, the victims say they are in no mood for Dashain festive celebrations. Moreover, as it has been decided that compensation will be provided to the victims of such natural disasters only after Dashain, it has become certain that the festivities this year will not be the same for them.
