Madan Bhandari was a Nepali politician and communist leader and he is one of the historical personalities in Nepal history who fought for democracy.

Bhandari was born in Dhungesangu Village June 27, 1952 in the district of Taplejung, Nepal. When CPN(ML) merged into the Communist Party of Nepal in 1991, Bhandari became the general secretary. In 1993 Bhandari died, in a car accident without any eyewitness. Many believe he was murdered. Among the three passengers inside the car, only the driver Amar Lama survived; the two leaders Madan Bhandari and Jeev Raj Ashrit died. The government came up with a report at that time as an accident with out any sign of conspiracy. The solo survivor of that crash, driver Amar Lama, was murdered after about 10 years in Kirtipur.
