The CPN-UML faction led by Madhav Kumar Nepal has rejected the party's decision to use Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for the Central Committee (CC) election. As the CPN-UML is all set to start the voting process to elect the party chairperson, other office bearers and central committee members from the two rival panels have disputed over the reliability of electronic voting machines (EVM).
Organising a separate press meet on Saturday, UML politburo member, said that a large section of the party representatives are skeptical about the use of EVMs, and demanded the use of paper ballot for the election.A group of leaders from engineering backgrounds including Saroj Upadhyay had pointed out possible faults in the machines and briefed the party´s standing committee members. However the party´s top body is yet to take any decision on the issue.
Pant said the election process can´t proceed ahead unless the issue is amicably settled and both the sides accept the solution.
