At least 50 people are dead after militants attacked the Kenyan coastal town of Mpeketoni. The government said Somalia’s al Shabaab Islamist group was most likely to blame for Sunday night’s assault on Mpeketoni, which lies on the Indian Ocean coastline that runs north from Kenya’s main port of Mombasa to the Somali border.
On Sunday night, gunmen launched the especially gruesome attacks while residents were trying to enjoy the World Cup. It is the most deadly incident in Kenya since September.Kenya has been under high alert recently with fears al-Shabab would launch an attack.
