More than seven thousand tourist in six month in Ilam



Ilam received more than 7,000 tourists in the first six months of the current fiscal year 2014/15. A total of 7,464 tourists including domestic and foreign visited Ilam during the period, according to the Tourism Information Centre at Kiteni in Kolbung. Of them, 140 were foreigners. Maipokhari, Sandakpur, Choyatar of Jamuna where the endangered Red Panda can be seen, the tea gardens and the view tower are major tourist attractions of Ilam. Ilam has been receiving foreign tourists from the US, China, Korea, Germany and neighbouring India, according to the Centre. Many domestic tourists from Jhapa, Morang, Dharan and Sunsari also visit Ilam regularly.
