Minister for Agriculture Development,has said that the incumbent government was committed to the overall development of the agro sector.
Minister Parajuli said so addressing a workshop organised by the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) here today during the two-day Nepal visit of the high-level delegation led by Israeli Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development, Yair Shamir.
Reiterating that the agro sector is the backbone of the economy of Nepal, the Agriculture Minister said the government has allocated maximum means and resources for the overall development of the agro sector.
He said the agro sector has one-third contribution in the Gross Domestic production of the country and two-third people of the total population is involved in agriculture profession, clarifying that the government has kept the progress of the agro sector as its top priority.
Minister Parajuli said, “The 20-year agriculture development strategy has been prepared for the entire development of the agriculture sector.
Stating that Nepal could learn more from Israel, which is leading the world in agro sector, he said the government was ready to move ahead collaborating with Israel in the sector of mutual benefits.
On the occasion, Israeli Minister Shamir said that his country could collaborate with Nepal in the sector of development of small irrigation system and the management of water resources, among others.
Stating that achievement could be made through collective work, he said works should also be carried out in a collaborative way for the implementation of programmes determined for the development of the agro sector.
He said there was maximum possibility of promotion of bilateral cooperation in the agro sector and expressed happiness over by the Government of Nepal keeping the issue of agricultural development and guaranteeing food security in high-priority.
Similarly, Israeli Ambassador to Nepal, Yaron Mayer, said the two-day Nepal visit of the Israeli Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development, on the occasion 55th anniversary the diplomatic relations between Nepal and Israel, has helped to further strengthen the bilateral relations.
Ambassador Mayer expressed the belief that economic development activities would be increased as political stability would be maintained in Nepal soon, and added that Israeli investor would invest in Nepal in near future.
Likewise, FNCCI President Pradeepjung Pandey urged the Israeli businessmen to invest in agro sector.Pandey said, “Sufficient output can be achieved in the agro sector. Let’s invest in agro sector being confident. The government has guaranteed for taking the output in respective countries in a legal manner.” RSS
