The police claim that CCTV was more useful for preventing property crime, including theft, burglary and hit-and-run cases. Some banks do not have CCTV cameras and it has become hard to identify ATM fraudsters, the police said. If we had CCTV camera motion- censor recording or night vision quality system, the cases similar to Teku murder could be easily solved as the number plate of motorbike used by the criminals could be zoomed in and read, the police said. The number is not that important, but the quality of visuals are of much more importance, according to investigation officers. “With the growing use of CCTV as part of crime prevention and deterrence tool, the users from various private sectors also should be aware about the best use of CCTV, DSP Chaturbedi said.
