The panic started in a Buddhanagar-based private hospital after buffalo enter the emergency ward. Failing to take the bovine under control, police had to shoot it dead.Panic spread among the patients, their caretakers and staff of the hospital when a buffalo suddenly appeared in the Outpatient Department and then Emergency ward of the Hams Hospital at around 10.30 am, said DSP Ramesh Kumar Tamang, in-charge of the Metropolitan Police Circle, Baneshwor, quoting the hospital staff.“For nearly two hour we tried our best to catch the animal alive but in vain,” DSP Tamang said. According to him, when all else failed the buffalo was cornered in a room that housed generator and the cops shot it dead with two bullets. Police suspect that the buffalo might have run away from a slaughter house. “The animal had an injury mark on its head that may have been caused by a sledgehammer,” said DSP Tamang.
