Rinpoche's body kept for public viewing

The Cabinet agreed to allow the cremation of a senior Tibetan Buddhist monk here. The Nepali Embassy in India initially granted approval for Kunzig Shamar Rinpoche’s body to be transported to Nepal from India for cremation after he died of a heart attack in Germany last month.The body of Buddhist Guru Shamar Rinpoche has been kept at the Syarvan Monastery at local Raniban for the members of the general public to pay their last respects to the 14th Rinpoche. Thousands of his followers and disciples from across the globe have thronged Kathmandu to pay homage to Rinpoche.The body would be kept for the public viewing until tonight and the last rites performed in the monastery premises on Thursday, according to Dwa Syangbo Hyulmopa, a member of the monastery.
