Mahakali River Flood in Darchula District

Water level in Mahakali River, which was just 152,124 cusec on Saturday morning, went up to 275,480 cusec by evening. which is the highest level of water recorded this year so far in Mahakali River.Mahakali River that swept away dozens of houses and damaged properties worth millions of rupees last year has started to swell again this year.

As water level in Mahakali River continues to rise, some villages around the river have already submerged under water. The humiliating Mahakali barrage provides irrigation and electricity for lagre portion of north India, but Nepal gets flood and blame in monsoon. Moreover, border river Mahakali has encroached by India at its origin Limpiadhura and the Army post has been errected at Kalapani, far east from the border river from time of King Tribhuvan.
