Two factions of Nepal's CPN-UML cadres clashed at the ruling party's ninth general convention . A group of agitating cadres of the CPN-UML – the second largest ruling party of Nepal – has vandalized welcome gates and convention materials on the premises of ongoing ninth general convention.
There were a number instances of clashes between the supporters of K P Oli and Madhav Kumar Nepal, the two main contenders of the party chair while the inaugural function of the general convention was in progress. The traffic was also jammed for half an hour due to the clash. The two groups also threw stones and hit by stick on each other and the police had to baton charge to take the situation under control. The CPN-UML has the strength of around 265,000 organized cadres. As many as 2,180 delegates are taking part in the general convention.The conclave is set to conclude on coming July 9. RSS
