US doctors treating Nepalese Prime Minister Sushil Koirala have ruled out lung cancer and diagnosed the 75-year-old with tuberculosis, a spokesman for the premier's Nepali Congress party said Thursday. Eight years ago he was diagnosed with tongue cancer , will undergo radiation treatment to prevent a recurrence of that illness before returning to Nepal.
Koirala has undergone lots of tests related to cancer care on Tuesday and Wednesday in Memorial Sloan- Kettering Cancer Center in New York, Nepal Permanent Mission in New York said in a statement. Koirala will also visit the hospital on Thursday for more tests. The first round of tests established that he has lung cancer but only the second set of tests will establish the gravity of the cancerous cells, said a source.
