CA by-elections held peacefully, high voter turnout

hree Nepali Congress (NC) candidates and one CPN-UML candidate have emerged victorious in the Constituent Assembly (CA) by-elections held in four districts yesterday.

NC candidate from Kathmandu-2, Deepak Kuikel, was victorious securing 18,678 votes. NC have won election in kathmandu after 18 years. As per the recent poll updates, total voter turnout in all constituencies was 69.39 per cent. Voter turnout in Chitwan-4, Kathmandu-2, Bardiya-1 and Kailali was 73.1 per cent, 66.54 per cent, 75.74 per cent and 62.54 per cent, respectively. Uprety said the percentage of voter turnout was based on preliminary data, which could be slightly modified when final data is analysed. Uprety said participation in all the four constituencies was encouraging. The voting was conducted yesterday by using Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) for all constituencies in the by-election.
