Pro-Russian separatists have shot down a Ukrainian military plane, killing Up to 49 Ukrainian military personnel. The incident comes amid reports that Moscow has supplied the rebels with heavy weapons. The statement on the ministry’s website said the plane was downed as it approached an airport at Lugansk. The statement did not say how many people were on board the Il-76 transport plane, which was carrying service members as well as equipment and food.
Accourding to Ukrainian authorities, on Saturday that 49 military personnel were killed when pro-Russian separatists shot down a troop transport plane as it prepared to land in the eastern city of Luhansk.
