Suicide is a global public health problem, particularly in Asia where high suicide rates in a few countries with large populations account for a majority of the world’s suicides. Three girls have committed suicide after failing the SLC examinations in Nepalgunj, Palpa and Biratnagar. A girl has committed suicide after failing the SLC examination in Baglung district. Basanti Ghimire, 16, of Gwalichaur VDC-8 committed suicide by hanging herself at her house on Friday evening, said Bishnu Prasad Lamsal, Police In-charge of the Khar Police Post. Ghimire appeared the SLC exam from Khar Secondary School, Gwalichaur.
Likewise, Rakshya Shrestha, 15, of Rukumkot VDC-6 and GangaThapa, 15 of Khalanga VDC-8 in Rukum district hanged to death as they failed the SLC examination.Shrestha and Thapa had appeared the SLC examinations from at Rukmini Higher Secondary School, Rukumkot. RSS
