The newborn gorilla we showed you a week ago. She and her mother both saved. About to meet each other. It was last weekend here, we showed you the remarkable images from inside a kind of maternity ward you rarely see. A baby gorilla just days old, after an emergency c-section. Doctors had to jump in to try to save both lives.
The baby, and the mother. Well tonight here, one week later, some incredible baby steps. Right there, the baby girl sucking her thumb, drinking from her bottle and the veterinarians at the zoo tell us she's growing fast. She's much more alert and aware.
Look at her holding her head up right now. Reporter: After a little burping, they tell us she's got quite a grip, holding on tight. She's got a lot more hair and we think that she's really doing well on the formula. She's getting a lot of calories now and you can see that she changes every day and she's developing normally and very rapidly.
