People are facing a great deal of inconvenience commuting due to the lack of a bridge over the Karnali river .Locals living in areas across the Rapti River here are facing much inconvenience after a temporary bridge there was swept away by flood. Locals of Banjaraha, Mathiya, Rampurkhap, Dumariya, Paipara and adjoining areas are also facing problem traveling to different destinations in lack of a bridge. A makeshift bamboo bridge is constructed at the place but it is said to be old and rickety thereby risky for crossing. People cross the river by boats during the rainy season and use the makeshift bridge during the winter to travel to and from Gaur, the district headquarters. Many people lose their lives every year during the monsoon while crossing the river by boats.
