At least five persons died and 31 others were injured when a passanger bus, a truck and a tanker collided near the border of Makwanpur and Bara on Wednesday. Police said that five people died on the spot when the bus (Na 4 Kha 1544) heading towards Kathmandu from Kalaiya collided head-on with the truck (Na 3 Kha 6285) this morning. According to a preliminary investigation, the incident occured when the overspeeding truck tried to overtake along the wrong side. Police said that the bus that crashed into the truck also hit the tanker (Na 2 Kha 8711). Among the deceased, three are said to be women and two men. Following the incident, the traffic was halted for a while, said Inspector Deepak Kumar Ray of the District Traffic Police Makwanpur. The injured are receiving treatment at various hospitals in Birgunj, Hetauda and Bharatpur.
