The home ministry on May 27 decided to promote seven out of the 13 DIGs. Those promoted to the post of AIG were Rajendra Singh Bhandari, Surendra Bahadur Shah, Bigyan Raj Sharma, Pratap Singh Thapa, Kedar Bahadur Saud, Birendra Babu Shrestha and Ramesh Shekhar Bajracharya. But following complaints by other DIGs, a review committee headed by a commissioner of the Public Service Commission changed some of the names. The review committee concluded that marks were given to some candidates with an ill-intension and against the spirit of the new police regulations. Also DIG Yadav Adhikari is among the seven DIGs whose name was not included in the promotion list prepared by the government committee chaired by Home Secretary Surya Prasad Silwal. Unhappy with the committee’s decision, DIG Adhikari along with five other DIGs had lodged a complaint at the Public Service Commission seeking revision of the promotion list.
