UCPN (M), parties form joint alliance

Major opposition party including the UCPN (M) and other six parties on Thursday announced the formation of a joint alliance to press for their demand of identity-based federalism.

Six of the political parties including the UCPN (M) have formed a joint front to vociferously raise the issue of identity in the national politics. Party leaders declared the formation of this new front at a program held at World Trade Center in Kathmandu on Thursday.UCPN-M leader Post Bahadur Bogati who is close to party Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal, said they decided to hold more discussions with Bhattarai on the issue.“We have not reached a conclusion on the modalities of resolution,but I am confident there will be a meeting point between the two sides and the party will move ahead in a united manner,” Bogati said.There are UCPN (M), Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (Loktantrik), Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Nepal, Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party, Sadbhavana Party, Sanghiya Samajbadi Party and Tarai Madhes Sadbhavana Party. The front is being led by Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
