An unidentified man yesterday assaulted Nepali Congress lawmaker Rita Shahi in front of Constituent Assembly (CA) building. Shahi, who was elected to CA from Humla under the proportional representation system, was heading to CA Hall from her residence in Purano Baneshwor on a tempo to participate in the CA meeting at around 11:00am when the incident took place. The youth punched her while she was heading to the CA building in a micro-bus to attend a regular CA meeting today. According to police, both lawmaker Shahi and the attacker were in the same vehicle. According to an eyewitness, the youth got off the vehicle and fled the scene after manhandling her. Police said they have arrested the man on the basis of description given by the lawmaker.
