Outbreak of hepatitis E in Biratnagar Nepal: Power News | Due to outbreak of Hepatitis 'E' in Biratnagar Nine die, 80 in critical condition and more then 6,000 fall sick . As many as nine locals have died and over 6,000 afflicted by hepatitis 'E' . Minister for Forest and Soil Conservation Mahesh Acharya have met with the patients and inquired about their health.

Due to outbreak of jaundice more then 6000 jaundice patients are undergoing treatment at various health facilities in Biratnagar, while medical staff there have referred 80 critical patients to health facilities outside Biratnagar. Hepatitis 'E' has so far claimed nine lives in the sub-metropolis. According to Morang District Public Health Office, the number of jaundice patients is extremly high. Health authorities failing to take jaundice under control in Biratnagar sub-metropolis even in two weeks, locals fear that the disease may take epidemic proportions.
