Pradeep Jung Pandey elected as new FNCCI chief

Pradeep Jung Pandey has been elected as new chief of the private sector's umbrella organization of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI). Pradeep Jung Pandey proved too strong for Bhaskar Raj Rajkarnikar in the presidential election of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) held on Saturday.

Pandey, who got a rare opportunity to win by a margin of almost 10 percent of votes, was helped by his hold on municipal/district chambers and commodity group as well as significant votes from the associates, considered the bastion of Rajkarnikar faction. Rajkarnikar was betrayed by the associates that elected 16 members and one vice president from his faction in the group. While Shekhar Golchha from his faction won vice president from associates securing 336 votes he received only 291 with Pandey getting 289 inclduing those 45 in cross-voting. Vice presidential candidate from Pandey’s faction BK Shrestha had received just 237 votes. Pandey accumulated 1055 votes, while his competitor Bhaskar Raj Rajkarnikar received 878 votes, Pandey won my margin of 177 with Bhaskar Raj.
